There have been a few cool software releases over the last few days so I thought I would post them.
– The late, great X-Setup has gone belly-up. They made the last version available for free. See MajorGeeks for the install version or the portable version. The key is in the ReadMe.txt file.
– Paragon’s Partition Alignment Tool & Whitepaper is free for a limited time. ( “solves misalignment problems on 4K hard disk drives, SSD, RAID, SAN and in virtual environments” ) Head over to The Windows Club for download and info. I’ve not had a chance to test it.
– OpenOffice 3.2.1 final has been released (unofficially at this point). See MajorGeeks for the download.
– RAMMap v1.0. This shows everthing you want to know about your memory use. I downloaded this a few weeks ago and haven’t had much time to play with it. One thing I’ve noticed is that if you run it from a drive other than the drive your OS is on some anomalies will show. This will eventually make it to the Cool Tools section. Go to Sysinternals for download and info.
– PerfectDisk 11 Service Pack 2 (Build 174) has been released. Download it from within the program. See the PerfectDisk blog post for more info.
– Firefox and Thunderbird updates that were supposed to be out already should be out any day now. So keep an eye out for that.
