Twitter just added tailored ads to its site. Users however can opt out of the process and this made the EFF happy.
To disable this in Twitter: Go to Settings > Account > uncheck the box next to Promoted content that says Tailor ads based on information shared by ad partners.

Google wants in on the game console cash. They are also making a wristwatch (like Apple). I really don’t understand the watch thing. I haven’t worn one in many, many years. The time is on everything electric (TV, TV set-top box, computer, microwave, coffee maker, car radio, cell / smart phone, etc.). I’ve already got an Android phone.

You know that privacy software I mentioned yesterday? Apparently using some of it can make you a target.
There isn’t a 7-11 nearby. One of y’all eat some Chubby Hubby for me.
The EFF has put together a site with software that is better suited to privacy protection.
PRISM-BREAK.ORG is something you will definately want to check out.
Interesting that they only list 6 Linux/UNIX alternatives. Something tells me folks will be yelling about that.

All this hoo-ha over government data mining has everyone taking sides and digging in. Even Woz has weighed in. (Poor guy can’t even sit in an airport without being pestered.) Honestly none of the “revelations” have surprised me though the number of people who are surprised by this has. Like many of you, I figured they were doing this crap all along. Cynical? Jaded? Yes. Yes I am.
I forgot to mention it last week but the guys [H]ardOCP seem to like this Haswell motherboard.
I enjoy watching Windows Weekly ( Leo Laporte, Mary Jo Foley, Paul Thurrott). This weeks episode is a good one.

Apparently the next version of Windows (8.1?) will have a start button and allow you to default to desktop. Like it should have in the first place.
On the security side of things, Microsoft says we should be using anti-virus software. Who knew? :rolleyes:
Speaking of security, Outlook.com now has 2-step verification among other things.
