Agree it looks like a great deal. However in past when I inquired to Western Digital about any drop protection for the portable drive, I was told there was none. Shouldn’t a portable drive include some protection of this type, if not I am not sure it should be considered portable?
I’ve got one of these, it warms up quickly. As in hot to the touch.

I just copied my Dropbox folder to it. 129 GB, 19,815 Files, 391 Folders. It was slightly warm but that was it.

I treat it like I treat my laptop. I reckon if you spend the money for a rugged laptop then it would make sense to pay for a rugged portable hard drive. Otherwise…
