Stealthy UEFI malware bypassing Secure Boot enabled by unpatchable Windows flaw

Reading the paper about the black lotus virus was interesting. So even with the most recent version of Windows, you won’t be safe until Microsoft or the maker of your motherboard provides the requisite deactivation code to the vulnerable keys? Right.?
The Windows Bitlocker program might theoretically also be harmed by the said program or targeted by it. I think UEFI is used by bitlocker. Bitlocker should be open source for yet another reason.
