Journey’s ‘Escape’ LP Turns 40
“Journey’s eighth album, released in July of 1981, and generally considered the band’s breakthrough album, launching them from moderate success to superstardom…The album was a massive hit on release, reaching #1 on the Billboard charts, and spawning three Top 10 singles (Don’t Stop Believin’, Who’s Crying Now, Open Arms) and two Top 20 singles (Stone In Love and Still They Ride).”
My city used to have what they call “The Drunk Bus”. It transported bar hopping 20-somethings between 2 of the more happening nightlife areas. 2 or 3 years ago my wife and I were on the way out of the bar and it was passing by. The ENTIRE bus was singing Don’t Stop Believin’! I don’t think there is any music out today that will get the same treatment in 40 years.
Tracks:
Don’t Stop Believin’
Stone In Love (My Fav!)
Who’s Crying Now
Keep On Runnin’
Still They Ride
Escape
Lay It Down
Dead Or Alive
Mother, Father
Open Arms
