Windows 10 May 2019 Update
Win10 1903 brings several changes, most of which the average user won’t care about. Two changes of note are supposed increased performance and improved control of Windows Update. The best breakdown I’ve seen to date is:
Neowin – The Windows 10 May 2019 Update is coming – here’s what’s new
Release Date
– “Official” date unknown at this time. “End of May” often quoted. Expect it somewhere between tomorrow and hell freezing over.
– ISOs are floating around now
Blocking 1903
– Easy way: Use O&O ShutUp10
See also: Windows Update section of the Tweak Guide.
(1903 will bring major changes to this.)
Preparing for 1903
– Update all your apps and drivers.
– Backup everything. Make a system image. I use the free Macrium Reflect. This is also a good time to backup everything else.

My Recommendation
– Put off installing 1903 at least one month.
– Better safe than sorry. Microsoft will, at some point, state that 1903 is “safe for business”. The October 2018 Update was declared safe on March 28th, 2019.
Tweaking Windows 10
It will be at least a month after release before the Win10 Tweak Guide is updated.

Still facing this stupid bug where on some systems one is only able to perform a clean install if all drives except the drive one wants to use for the installation process have been disconnected. The installer sees all drives and partitions but complains it cannot create or use a partition. Rather amateuristic imho. I mean, if for whatever bug the installer would not SEE those drives/partitions, it would be bad enough, but seeing them and still complaining about a suitable partition …
I guess I’ll do an upgrade on that system instead of a clean reinstall. I did that with the 1809 … Same bug, disconnected the non boot drives and reconnected them afterwards.

Sounds like this:

“Microsoft is working on a resolution and estimate a solution will be available in late May”

So far did a clean install on 1 system (non-RAID), which went smoothly.
Upgraded (not clean installed) the RAID system after hitting the abovementioned clean install bug.
Upgraded yet another 3 non-RAID systems.
Have to admit that except for that RAID bug it all went ok and the systems are stable without any show-stopping bugs.
That being said, I have yet to discover a compelling improvement making me recommend to install it asap.
So I guess the final verdict is something like “don’t need to rush it; don’t need to be afraid of it”.

Going to install this on my Thinkpad x230 that has been lying unused for more than a year .. Keeping my fingers crossed and hoping don’t run into issues 🙁
Let me download the Win 10 Pro ISO, drivers from Lenovo and see how it goes :s Then go through your Win 10 Tweak Guide 😀
