My current awesome webhost is calling it quits. I’m in search of another.
TweakHound.com doesn’t use a ton of resources. Here are my base requirements:
– Price under $50 per month.
– Security. The webhost should have a good security rating. Free SSL
– Speed. This site is very fast and I want it to stay that way.
– Uptime. 99% or better.
– 100k visits per month.
– 5 gigs of storage.
– Automatic backups.
– Speed, Speed, Speed
I do my own email.
Server must be in U.S.A.
My current server is on the West Coast (California). If I had my druthers I would prefer it be near me on the East Coast.
I’ve come up with:
Bluehost
Hostgator
Inmotion (located in my state, Virginia)
Siteground (former webhost recommended)
Recommendations please!

Try Kualo http://my.kualo.com/uk/go/00913 They have servers in the UK and USA and the support is the best I have ever experienced. Pre sales (live chat, phone and email) is also excellent. Even on shared hosting I am on SSD. Let them know your stats and I am sure they’ll sort you a deal

Thanks. Like their prices. Not thrilled about their servers being in a hurricane area (Tampa, Florida). Wonder if they lost service in any of the recent hurricanes?
Rylan says
have you looked at GoDaddy?
Eric (a.k.a. TweakHound) says
Was on them for a brief period. Worst webhost I’ve been with by far.
James says
I’m afraid I don’t know Eric as I am on their UK server.
… and I totally agree with you re GoDaddy. Not at any price

DreamHost looks pretty good. Hello! We have different locations, all within the US.
DreamHost currently has data centers in Ashburn Virginia, Portland Oregon, Irvine California, and Los Angeles California.
Eric (a.k.a. TweakHound) says
Was on them before. Couldn’t get their shit straight.

I would recommend Hostgator. Been with them for a while and my site is bandwidth intensive. Never had a complaint and it has been several years. Much better than my previous hosts.

Avoid Bluehost
