Growing up my family didn’t have a lot of money. We weren’t poor, my hard working father saw to that. But, there wasn’t a lot of spending on extras and I didn’t ask for them…much.
When I was in the 6th grade (about 12 years old) my love of Rock music had kicked into full gear and I asked my Mom and Dad for a stereo. We couldn’t afford a new stereo of decent quality so my Dad took me to a police auction. Police auctions consist of stolen items that have been recovered but are unclaimed. Back in the day it was a great way to get a deal on stuff. We came away with an almost new Pioneer stereo similar to the one below:
It was awesome and I was ecstatic. Stuck in the tape deck was a Fleetwood Mac Rumours cassette. To this day it is one of my favorite albums. It is a soulful, great sounding, magical album.
Anyway, what got me thinking of this is the video below. It is a fascinating look at the making of the song Dreams from that album.
