Linux guys,
Does anyone know of a non-rolling distro that will absolutely work with the AMDGPU-Pro Driver for Linux for my video card?
Video card: AMD Radeon RX 480 8GB
AFAIK openSuse Leap will not. Linux Mint is a no go (tried 3 times). Don’t know about Fedora but their KDE spin sucks. Ubuntu…LOL…NO.
I would prefer a KDE desktop but possibly could do another.
VMWare player also needs to work properly.

Have you tried CentOS?
Eric (a.k.a. TweakHound) says
I have not. Will look.

Debian stretch (stable) might work for you…but …I think you have to clone the latest Mesa drivers from the GitHub repository.
I think it is using kernel 4.9 so there is a page I saw with the correct terminal commands. You might also try Distrowatch “Search by Distribution Criteria (Advanced Search Form)” and check off all of your requirements and see what comes up.

Thanks. Will look.

Have you tried Lubuntu, I know that its may not be your style but it does have a nice KDE interface IMHO. It also suppose to work well with vmware from what I have read because it does not use a lot of resources. Hope that helps

I will look into it. Thanks!
