Q – You talked about trying name edited firewall program. Any follow up?
A – Didn’t think much of that program. See: PC Mag – Do You Need a Firewall?. I’ve nothing to add to this.
“In the modern world, there’s hardly ever a reason to consider installing a standalone personal firewall. The built-in Windows Firewall does half the job, and the firewall within your security suite takes care of the rest. The era of the computer hobbyist who’d carefully and lovingly select each separate security component is long gone.
Sure, there could be a specific situation in which you want to install the absolute minimum of security. You can still get standalone firewall protection, though the number of available products has dwindled over the years. And there’s no need to pay for a firewall. ZoneAlarm Free Firewall retains its title as Editors’ Choice for free personal firewall protection. Pair it with a top free antivirus, or install its own built-in antivirus component, and you’ve got the bare bones of a security system.“
Q – Did you know CCleaner is now bundled with Avast?
A – Yes. For me it is a non-issue. I think its was Chrome at sometime before that? You’ve 4 options:
1 – Pay attention during install and uncheck the box.
2 – Use the portable version (I do).
3 – Use the slim version. It usually comes out a week later.
4 – Don’t use it.
Q – Your “no politics” in comments rule conflicts with topics like Net Neutrality. (paraphrased/condensed/combined from several emails)
A – You are right. I will amend the rules to reflect this. Thank you.
Q – Nobody cares about your personal life you *$%#! loser.
A – Thank you for your constructive, thoughtful, and worthwhile feedback. I am disinclined to incorporate it within the website matrix at this time.
