I haven’t done this in a while. Hope you find something useful here.
Q – Why are you still using Windows 7?
A – Short answer, it stays the frack out of my way.
Q – I’m using whatever name Linux. Have you tried it? (paraphrased/condensed/combined from several emails)
A – In the last 6 or so months I have tried:
Fedora (KDE), Kali, Linux Mint (Cinnamon), Manjaro (KDE), Tails, and TENS. I still use openSUSE has my main web machine (KDE, Leap not Tumbleweed).
Q – In light of the recent Avast/CC hack, can you elaborate on why you don’t use the registry cleaner + any new thoughts on CC, in general?
A – Reg cleaners are useless: https://www.tweakhound.com/2011/09/20/bad-tweaks/
Manually cleaning malware entries is another thing entirely.
Thoughts on CC in general. Can you think of another program that will be under a harsher spotlight than CC for the foreseeable future? I can’t imagine it so IMHO CC should be good to go.
Q – My question is, besides Last-Pass, is there anything you can suggest me as a password manager?
a – I cannot vouch for any other password managers as I haven’t used them. From what I can see, KeePass seems to be what you are looking for.

Q – How do I donate to your site? (paraphrased/condensed/combined from several emails)
A – I would rather you buy a guide. While donations are gratefully accepted (buy me a beer link), I would rather earn my pay. Dunno if it is stupid pride but I don’t like begging for money and things like Patreon turn me off. I have Google ads on this site. It is my hope you are smart and don’t see them. Don’t whitelist this site or any other. Too many ad networks have been caught serving malware. I manually put ads up that do not connect to a 3rd party server, like the ad for Torguard to the right or an occasional Amazon ad.
Having said all that. I do not depend on this site to make a living. It is a hobby that frankly took on a life of it’s own. What little money I get from this site goes back into it by paying bills and trying to keep my hardware at least marginally modern.
I am toying with the idea of turning most if not all proceeds over to charity. Any ideas on this would be appreciated.
