Still no sign of patches and the internet abounds with conjecture about why Patch Tuesday was called off.
The Inquirer says:
“Patch Tuesday put on hold, SMB zero-day exploit likely to blame”
Windows expert Woody says:
“The only conclusion I can draw – and it’s 100% speculation – is that Windows Update is broken. Or maybe compromised.”
A patch manager app guy named Chris Goetti says:
“Something is broken in the infrastructure, in Windows Update or the [Microsoft Update] Catalog, is my guess”
So I’m gonna throw my smarta$$ 2 cents in.
WU was hacked by…Let’s say Russians (since they get the blame for every other hack).
Every machine that has been patched now looks to WZor’s download servers where it will flood the users online accounts with pictures of cats.
Those machines will also serve up ads for really bad bathtub vodka.
Yeah, I know. Lame (I’m bored). But it is just a plausible has anything else because we have no info from Microsoft at all.

I updated a fresh W8.1 installation yesterday – and it took bloody awful amount of time, but it worked, so it’s rather not a WU problem.

At least your explanation was the most entertaining!! LOL!!
radosuaf says
MSRT, Flash and .NET updates are in – at least for W8.1.
