I was in an email conversation this morning with a reader over a tech pundits condescending statement, “No self-respecting technology enthusiast would stick with Windows 7 in 2016.”
After thinking about it I decided this pundit might be right. A “technology enthusiast” is probably using Windows 10 or OS X El Capitan. A “Geek” on the other hand could be using Win10, or Windows 7, or OS X whatever flavor, or some flavor of Linux, or a combination of these.
Like many of you, I consider myself a Geek. The latest, newest thing doesn’t impress us much. We use the right tool for the job, we aren’t beholden to any company, and we consider ourselves the “good guys”. Like many Geeks I have a smart-ass streak in me so I thought I would sum up the difference between a technology enthusiast and a Geek in picture form.
(I’m just having fun y’all, don’t anyone get their panties in a wad.)
