Who’da Thunk It?
Advertising companies don’t like ad blockers? Really? I can’t imagine why not?
FWIW
I don’t think polls are the way to judge the righteousness of something. That said Reuters has polled the public over the Apple v. FBI issue:
46% side with Apple
35% side with the FBI
I know a lot of you have made up your mind on this but I’ll be damned if I can see through all the B.S. on both sides.
When asked if the government should be able to look at smart phones “to protect against terror threats”:
46% agree
42% disagree
I’m curious what will happen to those numbers when the next attack happens?

Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah
A buddy of mine suggested a program called Zipware as an alternative to 7-Zip. It seems to be an OK program but I would really like to find out more about the individual behind it before I recommend it. Near as I can tell he/she/they/it are in Australia?
Have a wonderful day!

I use Peazip as my archiving tool though it does have a few problems.

Sorry, this might be off topic for the post today and if you have already read this, but here is an example of Eric’s “8 different kinds of stupid” regarding putting your house or car on the net. http://jalopnik.com/how-the-nissan-leaf-can-be-hacked-via-web-browser-from-1761044716

As far as I’m concerned, a few obnoxious sites ruined it for all sites and I’ve ran an ad blocker for nearly ten years now. I used to live with the banners, but then came the pop-ups, pop-unders, and fly-overs and I’ve ran an ad blocker ever since. It might be a coincidence, but I’ve only ended up with spyware once since then when a site I clicked on through a Google search installed it. Nowadays, I hope Google is better about not listing such sites.
If an owner of a site I trusts points out their dependence on ad revenue to run the site and asks that we not run an ad blocker on their site, I will usually give it a chance and add the site to my no filter list. I should probably add more sites that I trust even if they don’t specifically asks for it. However, if I see anything annoying or deceptive, I will once again block ads on that site. Besides the annoyances I listed above, the most annoying thing I usually experience is when I try to download a program from a site that has a bunch of ads pretending to be the download link.

Some polls favor the FBI and some favor Apple, though we’re not voting on this so I think the polls are a waste of time. In fact when someone posts a poll, I skip right over the damn thing.
