Now that Threshold 2 is out I’m writing the Win10 tweak guide as time permits.
If you have any please post your tips and tweaks here. Be sure to include where you got it if you can.
That ShutUp10 is a great tool. I didn’t disable everything they recommended but nice to see what all Microsoft is getting from you. This app should be baked into Windows deep inside an admin control centre somewhere.

Hi Arjen,
Both programs are great. Plus, I love getting my Win 7 start menu back. The issue might be is that StartIsBack only shows one command prompt. Don’t know if I can use it as an elevated/admin prompt?

It’s not an elevated command prompt. It starts in my user folder and not in system32.
Hold Win + X to get you back the regular Win 10 start menu that includes Admin prompt. This way you can switch between Win 7 type and Win 10 start menu.
To colourise/decolourise the Titlebar (Threshold 2 [Build 10586] or Above):
Open regedit (press Win+R, type “regedit” and press Enter)
Navigate to the following key: “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\DWM”
A) If you do not want the Window Borders to be colourised, set the value “ColorPrevalence” to 0.
B) If you want the Window Borders to be colourised, set the value “ColorPrevalence” to 1.
restart explorer.exe to see your changes.

I was appalled that Win 10 DEFAULT is that it will SHARE YOUR UPDATES WITH OTHER PCs ANYWHERE. Is this not a huge security hole that can eventually be exploited by hackers to distribute malware around the world? I turned the “feature” off. I am not on a metered connection.
Quote from Forbes article above:
“The benefit of WUDO is that once one Windows 10 device has downloaded the latest updates it will automatically distribute them to other PCs on your network, saving time. The problem is your PC will also start to share this update with other PCs around the world that still need it. This takes the pressure off Microsoft’s servers but also means Windows 10 will consume more of your bandwidth than Windows 7 or Windows 8, neither of which do this.
The good news for those on metered connections is this can be changed by going to:
Settings > Update & Security > the Windows Update section > Advanced options
Select PCs on my local network only for WUDO to only be used for your PCs, or
Switch it off so each PC has to get their own downloads”.

I have 2 tips:
StartIsBack++ from http://startisback.com/ my choice for a normal start menu.
O&O ShutUp10 from http://www.oo-software.com/en/shutup10 IMO the best antispy tool for Windows 10.
Looking forward to your guide.
Best regards Arjen
