I’m currently on build 10162 of the Win10 preview on my desktop. I’ve been using it constantly in a virtual machine since the first build but I’ve been using it sparingly on real hardware because it wasn’t stable enough for me. That now seems to have changed. I’ll be using Win10 as my main desktop so that I can learn what there is to learn about it.
One thing I can tell you here and now is that if you’re a tweaker who values your privacy you’ll have some work to do setting up Win10. The default is basically to share all you’ve got with everything and everyone. It even wants to share your wifi passwords with your contacts.
Although I did a Win10 clean install on this computer a few weeks ago I put my Windows 8.1 image back on because Win10 was so buggy. This time I did an upgrade (extract iso image and click setup.exe). The only problem I’m having at the moment is bridged networking in VMware Player (Win10 host) (I do the majority of my internet activities in one of my Linux VM’s).
Anywho, Microsoft has put out a lot of Win10 info this week. Here are the links:

Windows 10: Preparing to Upgrade One Billion Devices
This is the Microsoft blog post that freaked out 1/2 the internet. In a nutshell, you may have to wait a few days after Win10 is released to get your upgrade. IMHO you nshould wait anyway.
“Starting on July 29, we will start rolling out Windows 10 to our Windows Insiders. From there, we will start notifying reserved systems in waves, slowly scaling up after July 29th. Each day of the roll-out, we will listen, learn and update the experience for all Windows 10 users. If your system is not ready yet for your upgrade to Windows 10, we will provide more details during the upgrade experience. In some cases, we will include contact information so you can follow up directly with an application provider or device manufacturer to learn more. For most upgrade incompatibilities, you may still choose to complete the upgrade, and find alternative compatible solutions in the Windows Store after you upgrade.”
Geeks know the official ISO’s will be available on or before the 29th, even if it isn’t directly from Microsoft.

“Windows 10 is designed to please both touch and mouse users. It’s also designed to be intuitive for users of both Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, incorporating the “best of both worlds” to enhance your experience and help you be more productive. The Start menu is back, putting all your apps, settings, and files just a few keystrokes, clicks, or taps away.”
Ahem, which “best of both worlds” is that?
The one where the Borg capture Picard, turn him into a Borg, and kill thousands of Federation people?
or
The one that introduced fracking Van Hagar?
