I’ve done two installs of the Windows 8.1 Preview and have just begun playing with it.
I’ve a few observations:
1 – It takes a while. +30 minutes each time.
2 – For those familiar with the Windows 8 backup options, it seems to work just like a Refresh.
3 – It’s a Start Button with no Start Menu. Rendering it, IMHO, completely pointless.
4 – Boot to desktop:
5 – The Power Menu changed:
6 – Explorer view. Out with Libraries, in with This PC:
7 – For those that care, the Metro screen is more customizable.
Conclusion
Overall I give it a, MEH!
If folks were looking for something to save the bad reputation Windows 8 has in many circles, 8.1 ain’t it.
