Portable Apps And USB Flash Drive PC Toolbox
Portable Apps
These are apps you can put on your USB flash drive.
They require no installation.
Some apps can be run from a LiveUSB (UBCD4Win, etc) to the offline target and some cannot.
i.e. - If you boot from UBCD4Win and run CCleaner it will not clean the C: drive of the computer you are working from.
- If you boot from UBCD4Win and run an
antivirus scanner it can be targeted to the C: drive of the computer
you are working from.
I keep my portable apps in a folder on my bootable flash drive as a part of my toolbox (see below).
Places to get portable apps:
Pendriveapps
The Portable Freeware Collection
Portable Apps Suite
The Portable Apps Suite is a collection of portable apps that can be run from your flash drive.
You can plug it in to any Windows computer or as I like to do, from within Windows7PE or UBCD4Win.
It is also customizable.
Just download it, run it, and install to your flash drive.
Click the pic below to see The Portable Apps Suite running on UBCD4Win.
USB Flash Drive PC Toolbox
You can make your own USB Flash Drive PC Toolbox.
This can be on a bootable drive or not. Whats on it is entirely up to you.
I keep mine on both my bootable flash drives and on another on with just the software.
Things you can keep in your toolbox:
Antivirus (scanners and installable)
Disk tools (partitioners, defraggers,etc.)
Backup tools
Web browser (Firefox, Chrome, and others have portable versions.)
