Page 2

Step 3

Configure Samba

Open the Mandrake Control Center. Click on your new Server Configuration icon and the click on Samba.

This will launch the wizard that Dams spoke of.

Click next:

Select the top and bottom options as I have. If you are going to share your printer from this computer the select the middle option also.

Take note of the above screen. We will set the account and password next.

Step 4

Configuring samba-swat

Open the Network Neighborhood folder and click on the Samba Configuration icon on the top icon bar. Click on the GLOBALS icon. Under the Base Options tab, enter your workgroup name in the workgroup box. You can optionally enter the name you want the XP computer to see when browsing. To do so enter a name in the server string box.

*Next click on the PASSWORD icon in the top icon bar. Under Server Password Management, enter your Windows name and password. It MUST be the exact same user and password that you are logged on to the XP computer with.

*Now click on the STATUS icon in the top icon bar. Under Server Status, click the Stop smbd button, then click the Restart smbd button. Close the window.

 * (You can skip this step if you decided to use the "command line" option from page 1)
